People tend to think of all of the normal reasons and milestones to get professional photos taken.. Babies at specific stages, weddings, engagements, kids, high school graduations etc. This last week, I was lucky enough to shoot for another reason.. just because a couple was in love. A good friend of mine, Tara as many of you heave either read about, know yourselves or someday will hopefully be lucky enough to know, asked me to take some family photos. Among these photos, we decided to try some of just the two of them.. almost “engagement” style. What we ended up with is a great keepsake for them as a couple as well as their families. It got me thinking though, why not get photos taken of you as a couple for no real milestone? It’s an obvious decision for engagements, weddings, and then 25th or 50th Anniversaries? What about that gap? After seeing the en d result of the (maybe 10-15 minutes of shooting) session, I want these for my husband and I! … and for my parents, and my siblings and their wives, and for my friends. Have a look, and I hope you can see the bond and what makes these so important to them as a family and as a couple after almost 10 years of marriage. I think that any stage in a relationship, documenting through imagery is important and even if you don’t plan to share with the world, they are important for you to have as a memory. Guys, what a better gift for your wife for any reason than a simple photo session resulting in some great images she can keep forever. It’s not only the session, but the fact that you (if you’re anything like most of the guys I know) step out of your comfort zone and do something that you know she will enjoy and apprecaite. Sessions don’t have to be long, you don’t have to dress up, just be yourselves and ignore that I’m even around. You have total say in whether images are shown on my website, blog or facebook so you can be the only ones who know that a session even took place, but you will have forever memories for you and something your children and grandchildren will cherish.

Ok – I’m not meeting my goal of one post per day, but I swear it’s for good reasons! I’ve been shooting like crazy lately with wedding (gorgeous!) this weekend and two senior rep sessions underway along with a family session tomorrow and kids and pets too! I’ll soon be posting details about my first Pets Mini-Session Day so watch for those soon! I’ll be back tomorrow with pics to share! Until then, good night all!

I was lucky enought ot be asked to do some photography for my church for use in the new directory coming out this year! I wanted to share a few of the images I got while bringing the camera along for a couple of services recently. A few more on Sunday, and we should be all done!! Thanks Brandy and those at Trinity for asking me to do this, I love to share photography and hopefully create images that both help others to see why I love being a member here as well as give insight to the family atmosphere that we all share while worshiping together.

It’s Official…

I have got a Farm Girl and a Farm Dog both on my hands! Had a good family night tonight spent picking up haybales and running through sprinklers… and it all led to some very telling photos! For those of you who havn’t met Rube yet, this is her. We have converted her from a city dog to a full blooded farm dog. She loves it at our place with lots of room to run, play, and hunt (her three favorite things I think!) and still plenty of time to cuddle. She’e the newest addition to the family and has been part of the Salo’s for about a month now. I’m sure you’ll see her pop up here and there from now on. She’s a 3 year old German Shorthair Pointer crossed with Chocolate Lab and a little Springer Spaniel. She’s gotten to be our “other” baby.

And for my farm girl, Aubree, you probably know her! She had a blast on her first hay wagon ride and was all about getting the bales off the ground and onto the trailer and was full of claps and “Yay Daddy” when another bale was tossed up. Although her and Rube had a little collision, she enjoyed (almost) every second of the ride! I enjoyed watching her and seeing the pride in Aaron’s eyes when he saw his little farmer in the making. Here is a little glimpse into our evening!

I’ll end the day with my three best friends .
